I've been playing with the GA Real-Time beta this evening and at the moment it is a LONG way off Clicky's offering... as you point out, this is currently just one report rather than actually processing all data in real time. The interface is very nice, but the data isn't actually that useful compared to what I can get from Clicky.

However, I'd urge against complacency - Google is exceptionally aggressive right now and has no qualms about putting business large and small out of business to grab share markets it wants to dominate. Expect to suddenly find Google ranking it's own product above yours in organic search results soon ;-)

I started looking for a replacement for GA because I wanted to stop giving Google so much free info that it uses to dominate the web, steal ideas and put smaller businesses out of business (just my opinion, of course). I tested a lot of systems, and found the Clicky provided an astonishing value for the money. I LOVE how you can practically watch a visitor and see what they do at your site. That's info GA never came close to providing, and wasn't designed to.

I've only been with Clicky for a few days, but I'm loving it and recommending it to a lot of people.

I didn't meant to imply that having that search placement will be our savior. Just that it doesn't hurt. (And yes I do expect GA to take over that spot once they have SEO'd for it).

There are plenty of reasons this will have zero impact on us. We have a ton of features GA does not have. Likewise, they have lots of features we don't. But the unique features we have are a big part of why people use and enjoy our service over Google. For example, Google has said they will NEVER offer individual visitor stats because of privacy concerns. This is one of the features however that a lot of people like about Clicky and other "smaller" analytics services, and Google will never offer it. There's a huge market of people who want this feature and we're here to meet that demand.

One other big reason we'll be fine is literally that we're "not Google". I love Google and most of the products they offer, but a lot of people do no like or do not trust them. So they specifically use services made by competitors to keep their data out of the hands of Google. This is also a significant market. We've had a lot of emails from users about this over the years.

Then there's the great customer support (even to non-paying members), the clean and simple and Flash-free interface with zero learning curve, the fact that *everything* is real time, the ability to track visitors without javascript, the aggressive bot-filtering, the real time alerts, social media analytics, the white label service... I could go on all night but you get the picture!

I just checked our search stats for today. Searches for "real time web analytics" today are the highest they've been in 2 months. Just to backup my claims that this is not a bad thing :)

I always use GA and Clicky for every site I own. Why? Clicky lacks some features (not that many) and GA is mainly for backup and some reports I can't do in Clicky.

As long as clicky keeps it's game up, and keeps innovating it has nothing to be worried about. Clicky is the best solution out there to keep your sites data out of big brothers hands and to manage multiple sites.

There is no replacing Clicky for me. For 3-4 years I was using GA, switched to Clicky 18 months ago and I never looked back. GA is maybe Google owned, it is free and powerful, but it is not real time, and for most thing is confusing and complicated to use. Clicky is better than GA in every way I need it to be, and I am not sure what must happen with both services for me to change my mind. Clicky has nothing to worry about.

It doesn't matter to me what features GA is offering, I'll never go back to it because of its clunky and illogical interface. I want it to simply show me the data based on certain parameters, and it slaps me with its big slick graphs instead. I couldn't care less about the graphs, just give me my freaking data.

So yeah, streamlined interface that allows access to lots of various information is why I chose Clicky.

Please, Piwik has had this feature as well for a long time now. Maybe not as pretty, but just as functional. Other people having this feature does not mean that you will go out of business... That's just plain silly :-)

I did not even bother to log into my GA account to see what GART is. Clicky rocks and always has.

I refer people to clicky on a weekly basis - and I have been a paying Pro customer for 3 years.

Clicky rocks and provides a much needed service in the analytics space. The real time functionality is one of the great features you have. GA is becoming bloated as they add features to keep up with the competition. The focus on simplicity and real time reporting are a dynamite combo.

I pay for Clicky because it gives me IP address, and click by click reports of where people go. PLUS I run several sites and I'm not interested in google knowing which sites are inter-related.

I'm sticking with Clicky to maintain privacy from google, and to be able to see who goes where on my site.

I only want google to know so much about my websites. Giving google all the info they need while they give nothing in return is a pretty crappy deal. I'll stay with clicky.

This software does way more than GA does.

I'm sold on clicky and it's less obtrusive and certainly less cluttered approach to analytics. I migrated from GA to a Clicky pro account and found a home. I don't see the need to pack up and move back to a GA product just to feed a growling giant. I would much rather feed a lovable dwarf.

I do not mind paying for clicky (3 years). I know for one I would never get the support Clicky gives from any other site. email questions have been answered in minutes or a few hours. not 24 hours or lost in question land. Sean keep up the great work and they will come. free is not always better.

This is SO funny. With the best will in the world, Google could not even get close to a product like Clicky. Clicky is far superior because this team have created something simple, elegant and fair. Google Analytics is a mess of confusing interfaces, restrictive data sets and Google voodoo. Real time is nice, but there are so many other ways that Clicky kills it. I really need to do a post soon explaining why GA sucks so much.

Another good point: Google free services have no support, really. Which is odd, because I use free services from other, much smaller competitors, and they solve my problems within 24 hours, every time. And Google free services make a lot of mistakes (i.e., not updating my address for 2 years after I've done what was required on my end). So this is ridiculous IMO and one of the many reasons I hate dealing with Google.

I haven't much personal experience of Clicky's support, but from the pre-sales email exchange with Sean and what I've seen in the forums, it seems to be lightning fast and thoroughly competent. I'd never get that kind of support at Google, and I'm not sure I'd get it at a more expensive paid analytics competitor, because sometimes companies like that cop the same attitude as Google.

I am in love with the same features mentioned above. For what it's worth, though, I am married to GetClicky's analytic system for one very specific reason: Goals.

I have tested more than a dozen analytic vendors, including other real time services. GetClicky is the only one to have goals that 100% foot with our database of record. What's more, the conversion is tracked instantly, so I don't have to worry about waiting around for an hour to tell my developers if the tracking code they put on the site is working or not.

Just give better support than google and you'll be fine. That means fast responses to customers on email and your forum for sure. Also adding a support number and live chat would give the customer the assurance that you're going to be here to take care of them. I know personally the only complaint I've ever had of Clicky is a major lack of support and good documentation for their customer. Google has bad support to, but they have great documentation.

I can only agree.
Although I've very rarely needed to make contact with the Clicky team myself, I've been consistently impressed (even rather amazed) by the speed and depth with which enquiries, problems and general issues seem to be dealt with.
I know myself that this is one of the most time-consuming aspects of running a website, especially if the team involved is relatively small.
The contrast between trying to get anywhere near a real person where Google is concerned, and the emphasis on personalised support that Clicky offers couldn't be greater.

Literally laughed out loud in a room by myself reading the title, that's too good.

I talked about some of the problems of Google Analytics in my analytic services roundup (http://www.sparringmind.com/best-web-analytics/) and it seems people were quick to assume a lot of stuff from a relatively small announcement.

Not to say that GA is a bad starting point for people getting into analytics (in fact it's the BEST starting point), but that doesn't mean they will be topping Clicky any time soon.

I just PlusOne'd getclicky.com. I wonder, if all Clicky-friends do that, would that keep getclicky.com on the #1 position in Google for "real time web analytics"? Let's give it a try ;-)

I hate Google, and many people do, so Clicky will be fine. I don't want Google getting NEAR my data. Back when I was on Adwords and tracking conversions with GA, my bid prices magically would go up on great campaigns. Go figure.

Clicky should target affiliate marketers and everyone else who hates Google (most direct response advertisers) :D
