Display custom user field instead of IP address in visitor list

I am saving a username field with people's session - is it possible to display the username instead of the IP address in the visitors list?

If your custom variable name is "username" then we do replace the IP address with that value.

(is it possible to display the user name instead of the IP address in the visitors list?)

I'm a regular guy who has a web site and I need to know how to do this..Can someone please explain to me without all the techie talk...or at least give me an example with some instructions...please..I don't mean to be a pain in the ass..But until I can afford a real web master I have to do this myself...Hope you all understand.

Is your website coded in PHP, ASP, or another language?

@verisafe if you are using a "plugin" to use our service (e.g. if your site is a wordpress blog and you are using our plugin), then that functionality is automatically enabled. Otherwise, it is is something you have to program yourself. It's fairly easy but it does require basic programming skills. Documentation is here:

Thanks, Friendly Clicky Admin - what I'm seeing is that in the "Spy" view the username is appearing correctly as I would expect it to. But in everything under the Visitors tab, it's still got either the IP address or the provider (with a little star indicating that I can see the username if I click on the linked IP or provider name).

Is there a way to make it show the username both places?

Sorry, the problem was that "username" is case sensitive. I just fixed it so it's case insensitive now, so your usernames are showing up properly in your visitors list.

Thanks!!

Found a couple more places I suspect you might have the same issue:

Recent visitors list, on the landing page
Visitors tab > action log link
Visitors tab > most active visitors (this one doesn't have the yellow stars and the providers - just the raw IP addresses)

As the tempareture inceasing hot day after day, and the step of summer vocation is just around the corner, what plan do you made for your vivid summer?Swimming in the sea and hang about in the sand beach is a common plan year by year and one by one. Maybe you can travel around the ice island or going to an icy palace to enjoy with all your heart with different scenery. Or you can stay at home to participate in Diablo III. It is very popular at the moment and Diablo series is a legend. What do you think about? Buy Diablo 3 Gold
