Facebook Ads tracking

I have launch multiples ads on our facebook ads. Some direct to our facebook page, some direct to our site, and some direct to our post on our facebook page.

Questions 1:

We have tracking code on our home site. But we dont see any referring from facebook. Most traffic is Direct Traffic, but still it should shoow cookies previous site was right ?

Questions 2:
How do i track all these ads from facebook ?

Facebook content published on the fan page is impossible to track, because Facebook will not let you install external tracking code on the Wall. Tracking external pages & apps that execute via IFRAME is possible but this is not what you're asking. And I wouldn't advertise a Facebook fan page anywhere outside of Facebook anyway but that is my personal opinion. I digress :)

What you can do is use standard Google Analytics campaign modifiers to the URLs that you publish, and (optionally but preferably) shorten these via the Clicky.me URL shortener. When publishing links to our website on our Facebook fan page, I would use a link like http://www.bviphotovideo.com/public/index.php?page=catalog&productid=629&utm_source=facebook&utm_medium=page-post&utm_campaign=some-demo-campaign.

If chosen carefully, the values after the utm_source, utm_medium and utm_campaign parameters can be very helpful, because all incoming traffic via that link is then aligned under the Campaigns panel and you get all sorts of meaningful data about the customers. Clicky also supports a utm_custom parameter for further possibilities but you will have to look around the Blog & Help sections of the website to see how it works, I haven't used it.

All the best,

If i use URL builder from google analytics and use clicky.me to short the url , then place it under the page on the facebook, or on the wall. would clicky tracks it ?

Yes, exactly.

Here is a screen shot I just made for you to illustrate my point: http://i.imgur.com/vRfnm.jpg

As you can see I've been quite inconsistent with my naming convention in the past, and my results now look a little "hairy". If you intend to do Facebook posts & track results regularly (and you should, since Facebook strips referral info from every visitor they send your way), I suggest that you spend some time in advance to come up with simple rules to name campaign sources, etc. for good consistency.

But i wonder, if i even i got the url shorten, the users actual need to click on the link to be able to track it right ? If i place under the app, the users need to click on the app to execute it..

I mean is there a way to track if a users just go to facebook page ? some of the ads we are running is by impression, and i doubt the ads run that much of impression. See i dont trust facebook ads until i actual see the real traffic number.

I don't trust Facebook stats either but what you're asking can't be done.

You can't put external tracking code inside Facebook and can't see who does what within the platform, period.

You can only track Facebook outgoing link tracking. You should definitely add tracking data to Facebook ads. But that is all. You can't poke around inside Facebook.

We are planning to place a post in our Facebook page with a link to a specific video in our website. I know that through the incoming links we can see how many visitors are coming from Facebook to our page. My question is how we can isolate visitors coming from that specific post from other post that we will have the same day?
