What's the difference between visitors and unique visitors?

I was wondering What's the difference between visitors and unique visitors?

'Unique visitors' are different people (or different computers, at least) while 'visitors' could include repeat visits from the same person.

Unique visitors are the number of individuals who visit your site during a day/time period. Visits, or visitors, includes the total number of times those unique individuals visited your site.

e.g. If I visit your site at 8am, 10am and 5pm, that is 3 visit(or)s but seeing as I am only 1 person, it is 1 unique visitor (individual) accessing your site during those sessions.
