Spam Bot Semalt Logs - Please stop
Hi,
I found only one of my websites quite a lot of traffic logs. It made me happy first but then I found it was always from the same source. I searched the net for an answer and actually I`m not the only one with this problem.
Can Clicky team do something about it to stop to show logs from them?
Below is forum where people writing about it.

Hi,
just put this in your .htaccess
RewriteEngine On
RewriteCond %{HTTP_REFERER} semalt.com [NC]
RewriteRule ^.* - [F,L]

+1 for Clicky to filter these out. Much simpler than everyone editing htaccess on all their sites.

Totally agree. Very annoying!

a large majority likely don't want certain bots, but Clicky's purpose is to show you WHO visited, so if they started filtering visits globally then it would hinder people who do research on bot visits or some other need. Also, you can block from all your sites with a UID or IP, most of the annoying bots I am able to do this easily vs. htaccess for all my sites.

In the last few days, I, too, have been getting traffic from Semalt. In the last few days, my blog has been getting bombarded with a few hundred spam comments, which has never happened before. Coincidence? After reading the comments from the link above, I think not. Obnoxious website.

It would be nice if the filter functionality in preferences could be extended beyond using only IP / UID to filter -- adding filtering by Hostname would accomplish what we are wanting to do.
I went the htaccess route to correct the issue, but I could see hostname filtering being useful for other situations.

I input code from above to htaccess, but it looks like it doesn`t work. I`m unable to filter inside Clicky Admin area either. As mentioned above, filter should be extended beyond using only IP/UID. Besides, my IP is dynamic and it always shows my own visits even though I filter with UID. The most interesting thing is that semalt.com only attack one of my websites, not all of them.

I found this code which can be added to your htaccess file. It should block them from your website completely:
# block visitors referred from semalt.com
RewriteEngine on
RewriteCond %{HTTP_REFERER} semalt.com [NC]
RewriteRule .* - [F]
I only just added it yesterday, but so far, it seems to be working for me.

Can anyone confirm our fix worked? We have one user who emailed in to say Clicky is still logging them.
