Reverse proxy web analytics

A reverse proxy allows you to route requests from your own domain to another server. In the context of web analytics, this means that instead of sending tracking data directly to Clicky's servers, your website acts as an intermediary, passing those requests along to us in the background.

It does require a small amount of initial setup on your server, but it provides several major advantages for your data accuracy:

Improved reliability

Because the requests are first-party, they are much less likely to be intercepted or blocked by adblockers and other privacy extensions. In other words, this configuration allows you to track adblock visitors. Many of our users see a significant bump in their recorded traffic simply by making the switch from standard third-party tracking.

Improved cookie handling

If tracking cookies are enabled in your privacy settings, then they can be set as first-party cookies on your own domain. First-party cookies are much more resilient to modern browser restrictions on third-party storage and cross-site tracking prevention.
