Uptime monitoring

Clicky's uptime monitoring service is called Monitage. This is an opt-in service that must be enabled by a user before any automated monitoring begins.

Monitage can monitor HTTP, HTTPS, SSH, FTP, IMAP, and ICMP. For HTTP/S, it can also check the contents of the response. Monitoring occurs from multiple geographic locations around the world, so that issues at any specific monitoring location should not impact accuracy. A majority of the monitoring servers must all agree that an endpoint is down before any alerts are sent.

Server responses are only used to indicate uptime of the target, and are not stored persistently.

Monitage uses the following User Agent string as of 2025. The Chrome version is updated annually to reflect the latest version of Chrome at that time.

Mozilla/5.0 AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko; compatible; MonitageUptime/1.2; +http://monitage.com/uptime) Chrome/136.0 Safari/537.36
